The Growth Chart - Oct 2012
What do you do for your only sister when she's about to make you an Aunt for the first time? I told her I wanted to make something for them as my baby gift and asked what she would like. After a bit of brainstorming we landed on a growth chart. She sent a few examples of ones she liked and I took it from there.
It's really a fairly simple project:
Get a wooden board to your liking (at least 6' long unless you truly expect really short kids I suppose)
Sand and prep
Add a few coats of stain
Paint lines and numbers to scale
Drill holes and add bolts to attach to the wall
Done!
Some pics throughout the process:
1. Before. Getting all the materials together
Step 1. Sand and prep so the wood holds the stain.
Step 2. Stain.
Step 3. Wipe and Re-Stain. Rinse and Repeat...probably a few times.
Step 4. Add ruler lines
Step 5. Oh hey there. (Mom wanted to document me in action.) Add numbers.
Step 6. (Not shown) Drill holes and add screws or bolts to fasten to the wall.
All finished!
